"No cousin lost!" is the JMA goal. One of the most important goals of the JMA is to continue the 200-year-old tradition of maintaining the genealogical record. Why? Because our ancestors, since the 1700's, decided that our family story and their family ties were worth preserving for future generations. A "Keeper" is a designated leader in your immediate family responsible for sending family information to JMA for the record -- births, deaths, marriages, adoptions, or other news. Make a note on your calendar to check for family changes or news at least once per year. Use the "Family Update" form to make sure all needed information is included for insertion in the record and/or publishing in The Historical Journal. ------------------------ Participate in the larger effort of finding lost cousins to include in the genealogical record or help to track missing information and gaps in cousin information that is needed BEFORE updates are added to the JMA record/database. A volunteer pool is needed to assist the Director of the Record in researching missing information, genealogical numbers, answering questions, and possibly data entry. Email communications greatly simplifies cousin contact but there is still a need for follow-up via letter and telephone. Maintaining an accurate genealogical record is one of the most important directives of the JMA. For More Information Contact: Richard
